thumb_thumb_IMG_9108_1024_1024Painting conservation is the art and science of conserving and restoring paintings to their original or a near-original state. Materials used are vulnerable to age and environmental conditions. Many types of damage occur to paintings including: paint losses and flaking, tears, discolored varnish, degradation of previous restoration campaigns, and accumulation of layers of grime and dust.
